December Doesn't Like June

Fact: I hibernate.

Another fact: December reverts to talking in third person when she misses her December Fun Facts that are normally restricted to the month of December. (Follow December Lace on Facebook to join the fun- the more, the merrier!) When other other wealthy socialites were whisked off to summer camps or ritzy destinations in foreign countries for three months at a time, December demanded to be kept in a frosty, secluded location so as not to lose her perfect, pale complexion. December doesn't like cancer or skin disease, and pale is pretty.

Da-da-da-dum-snap-snap

So to address the numerous questions and various other remarks or complaints that I haven't been as readily available on my blog, I'm aware of my absence. I do miss all of you and I wanted to tell you that. I haven't forgotten about you, duh.

I don't really like June though, and before all of you with June birthdays start throwing a fit, calm your Gemini-Cancer (the good kind) selves down. One of my favorite people in the world (Miss Lana Del Rey) has a June birthday, and that's cool. I just get that Summertime Sadness and things look really bleak this time of year.

You and I, we were Born To Die

This year in particular though, I've been writing up a storm, and it's completely shrouded my June like you wouldn't believe- most of my May as well. When I set out to write my blog to you, I wanted it to be more frequent writings to my fans and guests, but I'm realizing writing is more work than even I can dictate to my nanny. Even when the butler pitches in, I'm still- dare I say it- slaving away and it's still feels like it isn't enough. It's absolutely worth it in my eyes though to keep you all entertained and happy (if that it, in fact what I'm doing). So let's say I am doing just that: giving you a moment's break from your busy, outside world for a moment where December's world is a frosty, fun world of ice cream and extravagance where you can be entertained by my carnival life.

Let me have my chef get you another scoop on your sundae while I break it down some more:

I've been writing more than I have in my whole life. This feels wonderful, but it's hectic like a Red Bull-infused hamster on a wheel (WHEEEEEE!!) and I'm writing a lot of content so you, my friends and fans, can enjoy my material. I wanted to give you this glorious update because while I'm not blogging as much and it looks like I'm stepping away from my direct messages to you, I'm not. I'm just hibernating and still thinking of you, like always.

The best news is that because of this, I'm going to be published.

That's right.

I AM GOING TO BE PUBLISHED!!!!!!

When I saw that, I felt like a Spice Girl.

Girl Power lives on!

I have been working towards this my whole life. I wanted to see my name in print- not something I had my nanny print off the computer because I told her to do it, but a real printed format with my name on it because of hard work and a tangible goal I had. (I would also like to express my thanks to  the wonderful people at the Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers for all that they do. Cheers to a beautiful friendship!)

I have even more deadlines to meet that are coming up soon, and I will check in with you, because you are the greatest. The encouragement and generosity that you all have been showing me is outstanding. A friend of mine that I met while delivering kicks and punches in the ring was kind enough to lend his thoughtful writer's mind to my work lately, and I want to make sure his work is also appreciated. For a great read, check out Dan Murphy's Sisterhood of the Squared Circle: The History Rise of Women's Wrestling. PS I receive no royalties for shilling out his book- he's a really nice guy who did me a solid for friendship's sake alone. That, in today's world, is a miracle. I want the world to know about his book- I'm so proud of him!

The point is that I have goals and priorities and I know you do too. Sometimes it's really tricky to balance them both while maintaining a steady balance in your life. To not end up in a white jacket over the stress, I would try chunking your time in to small intervals in order to reach your goals and setting aside time for specific events so they don't conflict with one another. Another tip I picked up was if something can be done in two minutes, do it right away instead of putting it off. That way the task is not sitting around and it's not stewing around in your mind either. Mini-goals are still goals, and boy does it feel good to tick those off of your list, especially so you can get those bigger goals accomplished.

Priorities can still be maintained too, so make sure priorities (family, friends, pets, etc.) know they know they're appreciated. Set aside time for them too. I promise you, you DO have ten minutes for a phone call. You'll feel awesome, and then you can get back to practice and hustling.

All this sweltering heat and summer time stuff is exhausting me.

Now on to July...
