Gravity Works...Yeah Science!

When it comes to your life, "gravitational pull" is not just a term for astronomy.

Yep, I'm totally serious. This applies to your life, and you don't have to know a thing about constellations, the Hubble telescope, or a supernova (but those are all pretty awesome things, so I'd recommend a fair Google exploration of the aforementioned topics).

This supernova tho

In case a guidance counselor wasn't in your corner growing up, or you're at a point in your life where you're reassessing where you need to be and you really want to eventually do what you love, gravitate to what you like.

I'm not talking about the magnetic pull to your couch and binge watching Breaking Bad episodes for the umpteenth time so you can convince yourself it was for research for a YouTube channel about reviewing the finer TV shows. I've had that idea too, and I'm on to you.

Science, bitch

Since you're serious about committing to doing what you love eventually, but are just starting out and are unsure of where to go, I just wanted to let you know that there are so many resources available to you.

To start, gravitate towards your local library. I love libraries- these are the greatest resources available in the planet, but a lot of people may not be aware of how much they can provide you or your community. Aside from current books and magazines on countless topics on the subject of what you're looking to get into (and I do recommend reading up on the history of your chosen field), a lot of them offer free or extremely discounted movie rentals of current DVD's and Blu Ray. Additionally, they sometimes offer free workshops and classes on starting out or advancing your knowledge on computer programs, like Word, Excel, Photoshop, and so on. Great news, right? You CAN learn that new skill, probably 10 minutes away from where you live! ZOMG! And your local library is usually also part of a network of many libraries, which have access to other books, movies, materials, etc. To get a library card, most of the time you have to provide a current utility bill showing that you live in that city and a couple of pieces of mail, but the library cards themselves are usually free.

This is just off the top of my head for what my current library offers, and I could probably be more specific in a different blog, but the point here is that a library can help you in so many ways about getting to your next step.

So that was one example of an untapped resource that will definitely help you level up, whether it's getting that new job, and interview, or making a great Friday night in for yourself (because you landed that new job!)

And if you're someone who is more along the lines of a more physical passion, like training for an athletic event, gravitate toward a gym. I'm not saying you need to dump all of your (presumably) hard-earned money into the first gym that you see, but I do think that being around people who have the same goals and mindset as you will be extremely helpful. If you like jogging by yourself, that's great. Lots of people do. Keep doing that. But if you want to take the next step, the gym is going to have a lot of resources and people to help you that your secret route won't- things like posters for a marathon, flyers for personal trainers, etc.

Being around places that house people who are already doing what you want to will eventually get you to their level, I can pretty much guarantee you that. One of my favorite sayings is "You can only hang around a barbershop so long before you get a haircut."

Where is Ice Cube??

That's absolutely true. Stay near where you want to be and you'll get there soon enough.

All of these resources are out there for you, but you do have to be willing to step outside and look.

Gravity works. Try it.
